I am writing to thank you for the part you play in the Emergency Locum Service.
The ELS is the most helpful of all the assistance measures offered to remote Pharmacies, in my opinion.
I have needed to use the service on several occasions in recent years. The response has been brilliant. One phone call to the ELS number and within a few hours there is a locum Pharmacist on the way! In this already stressful situation, it is just wonderful that the travel arrangements for the locum are made for me and the paperwork is minimal. The emergency locums have all been really special people too, which has helped the team left behind to keep the Pharmacy operating.
Without the Emergency Locum Service there would have been a number of occasions when I would have been faced with having to choose between Pharmacy and family ie do I keep keep the Pharmacy open and neglect a family member when they most needed me, or not.
Thank you again for this great service and the terrific way you do it.

Friendlies Chemist Kalgoorlie
I manage a pharmacy in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, which is open seven days a week for twelve hours a day. Earlier this year there was an unexpected death in my family.
After all of my resources, including contacting the wholesalers locum service and contacting friends and work colleagues, I was unable to obtain a locum to come to Kalgoorlie to work for me. I contacted the Emergency Locum Service and left a message on the voice mail stating my problem.
The response time to my call and the information provided was fantastic. Sue from the locum service helped me out with paperwork and explained the funding that was available to assist in getting a pharmacist to come to Kalgoorlie to work for me. She also gave me a follow up call to make sure everything was going as planned.
The Emergency Locum Service is peace of mind in a time of need!

The ELS is in my opinion an important service allowing rural pharmacies to function. In times of emergency when no pharmacists are available, pharmacies would close as access to pharmacists at a drop of a hat is small as compared to metropolitan areas. As a user of the ELS it was reassuring to know I had a facility where I could have someone find another pharmacist to work while I was incapacitated. Without it I would have had to close. This would have severely compromised the health service in the community. The ELS is a service which I think is of huge value to Rural pharmacies.

In Queensland, I'm due to hit the big 70 come July and have decided it's time to hang up the spatula. So I'm not renewing my registration for the Jul08/Jun09 year. Ergo, pharmacy in the sovereign state of Queensland, (where all S3's are recorded!), will have to survive without me. So please remove my name from your weekly job updates.
And, thanks again for all your help in the past Sue- it was always a pleasure to work with you on both the professional and personal levels. Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing success.
